We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our team on a contract 1099 Bid-By-Bid basis.
As a Project Estimator (Specific to our industry of Low Volt IT) you will play a crucial role in accurately estimating the scope of work, materials needed and labor costs resource.
Your expertise will contribute to the success of our projects by ensuring accurate pricing and cost control measures in the bid process.
You must have your own software to be able to determine costs.
Duties:
* *Project Analysis and Scope Determination*:
* The Low Voltage Project Estimator reviews project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
* *Cost Estimation*:
* Estimators develop comprehensive cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
* Utilize construction estimating software to create detailed take-offs and cost estimates.
* *Vendor and Supplier Interaction*:
* The estimator researches and evaluates vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
* *Presentation and Communication*:
* Presenting estimates to management and clients in a clear and professional manner is essential.
* Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with management
* *Low-Voltage Systems Expertise*:
* The Low Voltage Project Estimator specializes in estimating costs related to low-voltage systems, such as:
* Structured cabling (e.
g.
, Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cabling)
* Access control systems
* Wireless systems
* Public address (PA) systems
* Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine project requirements
- Read and provide the complete SOW and materials with labor hours per project
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment
- Conduct thorough research to obtain accurate pricing information from suppliers and vendors
- Utilize construction management software, such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid, to create detailed estimates
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals for clients, including detailed breakdowns of costs and timelines
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and techniques specific to Low Volt Technology
- Proficiency in using construction management software, such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project plans and specifications
- Solid understanding of cost control measures in construction projects
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
