Salary Range: $165,000 to $185,000

THE COMMERCIAL TEAM Our strong project management teams, dedicated in-house engineering resources and skilled union field staff work together seamlessly to deliver commercial projects that are as innovative and unique as the clients who build them.
ABOUT THE ROLE Scope: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
Strategic Planning and Implementation: Work at a high level, helping to develop and implement the organization’s estimating and pre-construction Special Systems database.
Ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Experience in progressive and design build progressions type of projects in the respective industries.
Have experience in @ or in excess of $50 million dollar projects.
Estimating Oversight: Manage the estimating progress of various projects within the organization.
Manage the project team and staff, ensuring effective performance in dealing with PCO’s.
Ensure the estimating project teams understand the contractual language in compensation allowed in a PCO’s, T/M’s, reimbursable cost-plus details.
Manage budgeting milestones and timelines, ensuring that projects stay on track.
Must have knowledge and experience in multiple systems design, construction, commissioning, testing and integration.
Must be able to estimate a ROM pricing for systems scope from inception of a conceptual design to completion of all the systems.
Manage stakeholder expectations and project deliverables big picture.
Review and help support electrical estimating efforts as needed.
Review and manage scope of work documents, RFP responses and qualification statements.
Estimate Management: Manage and oversee project estimates/budgets, preventing overspending and reviewing cost controls.
Track all project costs versus original budget progression for historical data.
Chief Estimator must have knowledge and experience in systems design, construction, commissioning, testing and integration specifically to costing models and projections.
They need to be able to estimate all systems scope from inception of a conceptual design to completion.
Manage estimating teams and communicate in a timely manner to keep the estimate/budgeting of the project and PCO’s on schedule.
Review the project plan and overall logistics with direct and indirect cost planning.
Work with 3rd party budget review teams and support the estimating and management teams through this process.
Work with subcontractors and other internal groups so that in the big picture we have alignment and commitment, and the subcontractor list is approved.
Help support and identify Productivity tracking for overall installation quantities and widgets for historical and financial purposes.
Assist in QA/QC audits and reviews by system.
Understand the pre-functional testing that takes place and is carefully managed and documented for all costs.
Oversee testing plans and equipment required with costing factors and communicate these to the teams.
Understand and carefully work with the safety team to cover the costing details required for a safe project within the estimates.
Communication and Decision-Making: Ensure the estimating team has the information required to do a great takeoff and estimate.
Communicate with team, making staffing decisions and prioritizing project tasks.
Send in reports to the executive staff and keep updated on the overall estimate and budget updates.
Engage with project stakeholders to ensure that projects meet expectations and specifications.
Write and distribute project details and overall updates to the executive team in weekly and monthly updates.
Lead strong estimate reviews and support the kickoff of each project is consistent and compliant and has everything it needs from an estimating corporate plan.
Understand and communicate legal and contractual obligations to the team.
Assist in identifying and sharing the plan to the team to limit the exposure to the top risks of a project.
Manage and communicate company standards from top to bottom of the team and overall progression.
Strategic Direction: Manage and deliver an on-time estimate with high standards and overall consistent quality.
Manage complex decisions and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Complexity: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
Discretion: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.
Interaction: Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
Supervision: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
Experience: Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; At least seven (7) years of experience required of electrical estimating.
At least 2 years of managing professional staff.
