We're an award-winning IT solutions provider to the Federal government seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our team.
The System Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of physical hardware, including troubleshooting and diagnosis, installation and configuration of virtual machines, and management of all facets of the internal network (DNS, firewalls, permissions, etc).
Analyzes business problems and leads the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, deploy, and maintain virtual machines, including patches and upgrades
Responsible for user authentication and permissions
Develops, deploys, and maintains application framework software
Monitor server and network availability and security
Architects OpenShift Kubernetes environment
Integrate security processes into Application and DevSecOps tiers
Serve as primary POC with cloud service provider
Keep up to date with best practices and skills
Where applicable, support the development team in the stand-up and maintenance of deployment DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Subject matter expert in system administration and infrastructure support for web-based applications
10+ years of experience in the deployment and maintenance of application frameworks
Proven expertise in IT security implementation and compliance in a Federal government environment
Experience tracking development project taskings and collaborating using SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence
Leading a team to deliver a scalable cloud solution with AWS, Java/NodeJS microservices, React
MySQL and Oracle databases; works in Agile Scrum and Kanban environments
Experience designing and developing front- and back-end applications using ReactJS, Java Spring framework, JRuby, JUnit, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Tomcat, in container-driven development
Performing systems CI/CD pipeline with DevSecOps driven tools (GitHub/Gitlab, Docker, and SonarQube scans)
Experience building DevSecOps automation scripts
Conducting code reviews in SonarQube, Gitlab, Jira environment
Performing deployments in Test & UAT; coordinates and supervises deployments in Staging & Production
Assisting O&M team with production issues (e.
g.
, operational failures and deployments)
Ensuring accuracy of technical documents (e.
g.
, Technical Environment Plan, architecture diagrams)
Collaborating with senior management, Security, Engineering, and O&M teams on cross-functional tasks

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; four (4) years of experience may be substituted instead of a degree
