Job Description Summary
The Technical Field Advisor II (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems.
Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.
The primary responsibility of the TFA II is to safely accomplish the maintenance and repair of the various equipment used in power generation applications.
You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power vision and align with our organization’s core values.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities Fulfill contract responsibilities for designated and qualified skill set (Turbine Mechanical, Generator, Electrical, Controls, Excitation, Boiler) Direct and oversee repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies.
Recognize, Predict and document potential failures and future outage recommendations Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.
Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures Lead execution and oversight of projects under the TFA’s core competency Execute project management and technical leader duties.
Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues Perform other duties as assigned Support business needs when not on field assignment Willingness and ability to travel as required by field assignments Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments Required Qualifications Technical/University degree or qualifying experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Field Services role Minimum of 3 years of experience in Oil & Gas or power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation/commissioning 1+ year of demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required Meet core competency Level II skill requirements Desired Characteristics: Qualified level.
Has the knowledge and skill to actively support an outage and be aware of where to seek answers to questions as they arise.
Has experienced successful installations and outages.
Experience and training on GE, Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred Good attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.
Follow up all quality aspects according GE QA manual and procedures.
Working knowledge and application of EHS rules.
Effective communication to HQs, through company e-tools Good organizational, project management, oral/written communication, interpersonal/leadership skills Good business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customer “Strong consideration will be given to applicants from Fieldcore.
” Eligibility Requirements: English proficiency required Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments is required (80% travelling time) Ability to obtain unescorted security clearance at nuclear power facilities Willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required Valid Driver’s License and passport Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work in hot environments, and lift 25 lbs Successful completion of required training programs is a minimum requirement.
Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of your pre-employment background and drug screening (to be taken within 48 hours of your receipt of the test paperwork).
You may receive specialized classroom and laboratory training to prepare you for your assignment.
You will be expected to complete periodic training to meet competency requirements for the position.
All training courses attended must be successfully completed as a minimum requirement for employment.
