Job Summary: The Project Manager, Retail Environments operates with a high degree of independence managing design, production and installation for store remodeling projects.
Taking direction from the Visual Merchandising and Design Services teams, this position will manage the efforts of GSP's design, production and installation teams to impact stores through small and large-scale store remodeling projects.
Incumbent coordinates and implements designs, procures materials and manages installation of full or partial store resets and remodels.
Responsibilities include improvement projects to enhance sales and image of retail environments including C-store, fashion retail, grocery and fast casual restaurants.
Incumbent will coordinate with customers, vendors, subcontractors and internal partners in the execution of duties.
Broad knowledge of project management and vendor management is required to execute the daily function of the role in addition to knowledge of construction and visual merchandising practices and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: Project manages new store installations and remodel projects for existing stores Coordinate with internal and external teams on construction and brand implementation projects for new stores, remodels and acquisitions.
Coordinate with corporate staff, store managers, subcontractors, third party vendors, project team members and other departments to ensure successful project completion Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables for client and or management Develop budgets for new stores and remodel projects, track expenses and review all related invoices Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other problems Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations Conduct walk-throughs and prepare follow-up punch lists Ensure projects are of good quality, completed on time, and within budget Prepare SOW based on remodel classification from Design Coordinate implementation of merchandise and fixture layouts Conduct project visits for current, upcoming and completed jobs Procures all equipment and materials required to build and install designs Participates in the sales process including giving presentations to customers with Customer Service Team.
Develops positive working relationships internally and externally.
Coordinates with purchasing department to obtain necessary material and quantities, and ensure vendor payments.
Education and Experience: BA/BS degree in Business, Finance or related field.
10 years' experience in procurement/purchasing in a retail environment.
5 years' experience in a retail store project management role.
5 years' experience with store installation projects, resets and remodels that build brands and grow revenue.
Experience with construction practices and dealing with subcontractors desired.
Qualifications, Skills Abilities and Competencies: Advanced skills in project management with ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects Knowledge of store remodeling, in particular convenience store fixtures, dcor, signage, fabrication and graphics.
Strong design sense and knowledge of design principles Knowledge of technical and mechanical practices related to fixtures, installation and or construction.
Knowledge of merchandising practices and procedures Knowledge of purchasing and procurement procedures and practices.
Extensive knowledge of materials, vendors and resources for retail store environments.
Knowledge of construction, including reading blueprints, familiarity with building code requirements, selection of contractors/subcontractors, etc.
Solutions orientation with strong creative and collaborative problem solving ability.
Analytical skills to include planning, organizing, directing and controlling workflow and processes Highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
Ability to manage large workload, producing quality work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and deadlines.
Advanced conflict-resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and professionally with a diverse external and internal customers such as creative and production departments as well as develop positive working relationships with vendors.
Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Proficiency with PC's to include knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), maintaining data bases, generating information and tracking status using proprietary software.
Knowledge of marketing and brand concepts, coordination and implementation.
Ability to work remotely and independently with little direct supervision.
Ability to convey a professional image of honesty and concern for customers' needs.
Ability to contribute to building a strong and positive team spirit as well as align with GSP values.
Candidate must be able to commute within their metro area and travel in the United States and Canada as needed.
