SEH is currently searching for talented Sr SUE Technicians to join our team to support projects in various US locations! By joining the SEH Subsurface Engineering group (SUE), you will be a part of a rapidly growing team critical to the preliminary engineering process.
This team combines civil engineering, surveying, and geophysics to provide accurate utility information prior to construction to prevent costly project delays and mitigate risks.
Using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, this team is an integral part of ensuring our clients’ projects are well executed from start to finish.

Our Paid Family Leave benefit allows you to be there for the people you love - whether it’s the family you were born into or the family you chose What you will be doing: Demonstrated knowledge of Subsurface Engineering Work with a team of talented individuals to help tackle a wide variety of projects Read and interpret utility records, as built and survey drawings and highway design plans Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic Call “One-Call” tickets Coordinate survey work in relation with SUE Supervise activities of field crew Train junior crew members Represent SEH in the field and communicate/coordinate with utility companies Required Qualifications: A minimum of six (6) years of experience in using electromagnetic or geophysical designating technologies Experience with electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey, or vacuum excavation Should be able to walk long distances of several miles daily Will sometimes be lifting heavy equipment up to 80 lbs This position requires an MVR records check verifying that you possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets the requirements of SEH’s Driving Program.
Must prioritize the safety of yourself and others May need to work nights/weekends Experience in developing utility project specifications, making materials and equipment recommendations, and preparing bidding documents Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with VAC Truck Must be able to quickly grasp new technologies Should have basic computer skills and be able to learn and understand new software Need to have a high level of reading comprehension and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications Who we are Better Places.
