GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the VP of Sales AMERICAS, the Sales Director is accountable for providing strategic leadership in sales, marketing, and product development specifically within the Plastics and Specialties markets across North America.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
The specific responsibilities of the Sales Director, within the Plastics and Specialties markets, include:
Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies including forecasting for the Plastics and Specialties markets to achieve objectives, utilizing resources efficiently.
Develop customer relationships to build trust and develop joint business plans to add value for customers and DCL.
Drive initiatives to increase color sales and market share in the Plastics and Specialties markets, aligning with a strategic vision.
Gather and disseminate market information to identify threats, opportunities, and support product development within these specialized markets.
Identify, develop, and follow up on sales opportunities using Salesforce CRM, converting them into profitable sales.
Provide service levels to meet customer requirements and establish long-term business relationships with key accounts within the Plastics and Specialties sectors.
Record and report call reports, samples, opportunities, and lost business using Salesforce CRM.
Identify major trends in key market segments of Plastics and Specialties and report activities in monthly reports.
Attend and contribute to key technical and trade organization meetings and trade shows specifically relevant to the Plastics and Specialties markets.
Provide direction to the technical service group on projects involving key customers or critical applications within these specialized markets.
Coordinate customer technical service, including internal and customer troubleshooting, support, technical presentations, and quality/complaint investigations within the Plastics and Specialties sectors.
Develop close working relationships with cross-functional departments to promote cooperation and effectiveness in meeting business needs within these specialized markets.
Support and coordinate new product introductions at key accounts within the Plastics and Specialties markets.
Field questions regarding the use and performance of pigments for pigment applications in the Plastics and Specialties sectors.
Track and communicate competitive activities and identify new growth opportunities specifically within the Plastics and Specialties markets.
Implement price reviews and perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Chemistry, Marketing, Business, or related field).
Minimum of 8 plus years' experience in technical sales/marketing/applied technology for color solutions, preferably in the Plastics and Specialties industries.
Knowledge of the pigment market and its applications in Plastics and Specialties is desired.
Strong understanding of product line characteristics and applications in these specialized markets.
Strong financial acumen.
Proficient in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Salesforce CRM.
Physical requirements for a standard office environment as well as travel.
Experience in budgeting, capital expenditures, and standard costing.
Strong managerial skills with the ability to adjust the management style according to the situation.
Proven ability to set and achieve stretch goals.
