Job Position: Commissioning Technician
Purpose: A driven and forward-thinking Commissioning Technician to facilitate the commissioning process to include: start-up, testing, system checkout.
Under the direction of the Commissioning Manager, you will facilitate the proper installation, operation, and conformance of project objectives while adhering to Knobelsdorff quality standards.
Responsibilities Support all operational aspects of the Commissioning team: safety, quality, schedule, staffing, logistics, and field operations.
Ability to facilitate and troubleshoot the commissioning and startup of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and logic systems.
Proven experience with equipment, timelines, customers, and general activities required to service the variety of O&M and commissioning operations.
Technical understanding of testing and startup procedures of different equipment types and manufacturers.
Ability to effectively support commissioning activities from execution to customer close out.
Knowledge of current electrical codes and best practices.
Demonstrated skill coordinating assignments in support of the startup schedule to include milestones.
Participate, as required, in commissioning agreement negotiations with Customer, Suppliers, and other key partners, ensuring collaboration while managing risk.
Ability to support the maintenance of key strategic relationships with various partners; both internal and external.
Proven technical background required to trouble shoot and provide feedback to the Commissioning Manager around expected plant system operation under startup parameters and temporary startup conditions.
Responsible for the documentation and reporting project design changes, as necessary, to the Commissioning Manager.
Ability to interface with clients, regulatory agencies, manufacturers/distributers, and other project stakeholders as required.
An adherence to high ethical standards that align with Knobelsdorff Values.
Network to improve market presence of the Knobelsdorff Commissioning group.
Ability to identify and communicate training, and equipment needs to effectively perform the job in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability provide feedback to the Commissioning Manager, to develop process and procedure to ensure a systematic and safe approach to work being performed.
Support the proper documentation is completed, and provided to the Commissioning Manager with regard to either bringing a plant on line or verifying performance of an operating plant.
Experience with the interpretation and performing a variety of testing procedures associated with verifying plant performance in a safe and efficient manner.
Good critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, identify solutions, and execute.
Ability to work on tight deadlines under pressure.
Competency in Microsoft applications included Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system.
Great communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Willing to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
Willing to be on call to address complications with little notice; ability to deploy, travel to site and facilitate the service call.
Willing to work on out-of-town projects.
Travel required.
Must be able to deploy to a project for potentially for extended periods of time.
Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge of electrical construction.
Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram’s) preferred.
Understanding of electrical instrumentation and control checkout procedures incorporating analog/digital I/O (point to point, loop checks, etc).
Previous knowledge in PLC, VFD and SCADA installations highly recommended.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that represents a history of safe & competent driving.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Physical Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods of time Must be capable of working in inclement conditions to include extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Must be physically capable of manually digging & back-filling holes and trenches.
Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs.
