*Job Description Summary:*
Provide Local Area Networking (LAN) and personal computer support to The Texas A&M University System Offices.
Maintain, monitor, manage and *secure network servers, network services and personal computers*.
Support networked and non-networked departmental applications.
Research, evaluate, assist with purchase, make recommendations, implement and provide consulting guidance on technology products to better assist departments in achieving their goals and objectives.
*Responsibilities:*
● Provide virtual environment administration, which includes the research, design, installation and implementation, monitoring and maintenance of virtual appliances, servers and applications, including the underlying physical host, network and data storage.
● Provide local area network support (*server hardware* and *software administration*), *security, support, maintenance, monitoring, installation, troubleshooting, training and consultation.

● Operating Systems to support include Windows Servers and Windows PCs.
● Server services to support include file, print, *Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange and RRAS VPN.
*
● Provide support for personal computer hardware and software support, maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, training and consultation.
● *Research, evaluate, assist with purchase*, *provide recommendations*, *implement and provide consulting and guidance on technology products for all departments.
*
● Use centralized administration tools and/or custom written scripts to install personal computer images, software patches and upgrades.
● Secure servers through operating system hardening, scanning and patching.
● Ensure servers and workstations are secure using centralized administration tools and/or scripts to install software and operating system security patches.
● Remove strains of desktop workstation malware through diagnosis and registry edits.
● Assist management with the research, design and implementation of methods and procedures using information technology to improve business processes.
● Assist users with various personal mobile device form factors and operating systems to allow remote data synchronization and access.
● Other duties as assigned.
*Education and Experience:*
● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● *Three years of systems administration experience.
*
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*
● Knowledge of personal computer and server installation, maintenance, and management.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong trouble shooting skills.
● *Ability to move medium to heavy objects.
*
● *Frequent work outside of scheduled hours*.
● Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
Preferred certification such as *Comp TIA A+ *or similar.
Preferred certification on *virtualization infrastructure management.
*
