Job Summary: Salas O’Brien is looking to fill a contract project manager role for New York State’s Large-scale Renewables Tier 4 program aimed at the state’s clean energy transformation through large-scale clean energy generation and transmission.
Large-scale renewable generation and transmission plays a key role in achieving New York’s ambitious climate and energy goals under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).
The Tier 4 program includes two transformational renewable energy transmission projects, Clean Path NY (CPNY) and Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE), that combined are expected to deliver 18-million megawatts of clean energy to New York City or more than a third of the City’s annual consumption.
The CPNY transmission line runs from Quebec, Canada to the Astoria Energy Complex in Queens, NY.
CPNY’s fully permitted line will include submerged marine and surface terrestrial transmission.
This role will be focused on project management related to construction activities and schedule adherence for these two large scale renewable energy transmission projects.
This role will include periodic travel to construction sites along the transmission corridor for periodic field visits related to project completion and coordination.
Job tasks include: Monitor and report out on regularly scheduled construction progress meetings and submitted reports Perform field site visits throughout project construction corridor Proactively identify and report on project and schedule risk along with mitigation activities as needed Perform contract compliance monitoring and maintain tracking tools, escalating issues as needed Maintain construction reports and documentation on SharePoint Participate in internal and external project meetings Develop appropriate project metrics and tracking mechanisms Generate charts, tables and tools as necessary to quickly convey project status to executives Required skills include: Bachelor of Science and 7-10 years of construction experience OSHA 10-hour construction safety training Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) Knowledge of solar generation technologies Familiarity with Article VII of New York Public Service Law Experience with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.
) Excellent presentation and communication skills to multiple audiences Location Remote/Albany/New York City This position is based on a full-time position as a Salas O’Brien employee.
