Technical Quotation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the sales and proposal process of the company.
Your main responsibility will be to prepare accurate, comprehensive and competitive quotations for products or services based on customer requirements and company capabilities.
You will work closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality and procurement to ensure that the quotations align with the company's strategic goals and meet customer expectations.
Your ability to analyze technical specifications, understand project scopes, and provide pricing estimates will be essential in securing new projects and contracts.
This position requires a meticulous approach to ensure precise cost calculations and effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients.
Essential Functions: RFQ Analysis: Evaluate Request for Quote package to identify gaps and work with sales and the customer to obtain all information required to complete the quote.
Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team and the customer to understand customer requirements and objectives, ensuring that quotations align with the client's needs and expectations.
Technical Analysis: Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to evaluate drawings, 3D models and specifications to determine fit for Aptyx capabilities.
Identify capability gaps that will require investment or external support.
Cost Estimation: Utilize cost estimation tools and methodologies to determine the cost breakdown of components and assemblies considering variables such as production processes, materials, labor rates and equipment.
Quotation Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate proposals for products or services, considering factors such as COGS, overhead, profit margins and other associated costs.
Review and Approval: Generate financial model based upon the quote and collaborate with management and senior stakeholders to review and approve proposals before submission to customers.
Customization: Tailor proposals to address specific client needs, highlighting value-added features and benefits that differentiate the company's offerings.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, market prices, and competitor offerings to ensure that the company's quotations are competitive while maintaining profitability.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project costing, proposing mitigation strategies when necessary.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all quotations, pricing details, and communication with clients, providing a comprehensive overview of the quoting process.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline the quotation process, enhance accuracy and improve response time.
Customer Communication: Address customer inquiries and clarifications regarding proposals, providing timely and accurate information to support the sales process.
Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
Experience: 10+ years of overall industry experience including a minimum of 3 years in a similar role, preferably within the medical device or contract manufacturing industries.
Process Knowledge: Injection molding, plastic extrusion, metal fabrication, automation and assembly.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills for accurate cost assessments.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external clients.
Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precision in cost calculations and quotation preparation.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with engineering principles and project management concepts.
Software Proficiency: Competency in relevant software tools for cost estimation and project documentation.
Knowledge of ERP, Sales and Project Management systems such as HubSpot, Epicor, Smartsheet or other similar systems expected.
