*Development Project Engineer*
*Overview:*
Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group.
Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with more than $1 trillion of total assets under management.
Currently, Kindle manages 10+ GWs of generation in Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey, and Maryland, with a 700 MW CCGT project under construction in Louisiana.
We are seeking an experienced individual for the position of Project Engineer, within our Development Group to support new initiatives in the design, construction, and commercialization of power generation assets.
The position is approved to work remotely with a travel requirement of 30% - 40%.
*Primary Responsibilities:* * Actively support the development and origination teams related to acquisition of new investment opportunities for Kindle including new construction, expansion, and asset optimization with combined cycle and fast start peaking projects * Support Kindle business development on technical aspects of new development projects and large capital projects for the existing plant facilities, duties include the following: * Specify and select appropriate equipment and technology to meet the performance, emissions and financial goals of the project.
* Competent to work at a very high level in multiple knowledge areas or functions as an advanced contributor.
* Collaborate on cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring financial viability and adherence to budgetary constraints and project schedule.
* Analyzes project schedule, progress, and cost reports and provide input to the Project Management Team to assist in developing mitigation plans to manage the work.
* Participate in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.
* Familiar with project integration of electrical interconnects, fuel pipeline interconnects, air/water permitting processes, thermal and water balances, and process controls.
* Construction Execution Planning (including Logistics planning, e.
g.
receiving and storage of equipment and materials, transportation, and maintenance of stored equipment).
* Analyzes and interprets data independently.
Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action.
Participates in the project planning and scheduling process.
* Utilize critical thinking to develop economic analyses and marginal evaluations, enabling informed decision-making.
* Provide sound recommendations based on technical expertise and project knowledge.
* Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution.
* Works on complex issues and projects.
* Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Independently selects methods, techniques, analytical approaches, and evaluation criteria.
* Oversee the execution of projects from conception to start-up, including involvement during shutdowns and plant interfaces.
* Serves as project/technical lead on medium to large projects; regularly coordinates work of professionals, technicians, and others outside of own department.
* Trains and mentors employees in technical skills.
* Demonstrated site organizational, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Possesses business acumen to understand the financial management of a project, including budget management, expense, and cost control.
* Collaborate and solve problems – works with others to resolve significant issues, clarify, or interpret complex information, and provide initial screening/negotiations.
* Identify and resolve roadblocks and challenges that may arise during project execution.
* Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress - Communicate with project owners to ensure alignment to project goals.
* Provides support, as needed, to the VP of EPC or other key stakeholders * Promote safety through proactive involvement in safety training, adherence to safety policies, and inclusion of company safety initiatives in project deliverables.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent field within power generation and/or energy * Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the energy field executing and managing development, engineering, design, construction, startup & commissioning activities on gas fired power plants * Must have an extreme focus on safety and environment-over-production * High proficiency in effectively leading individuals and teams * Experience leading technical development and execution of engineering and design activities during implementation phase of gas fired power plants * Direct operational experience of power generation required * Experience in negotiating large-scale contracts * Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members * Proven technical and communications skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills * Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities * Excellent time management and organizational skills Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $165,000.
