Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects that are low voltage, cctv, or phone systems.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Utilize construction estimating software such as HeavyBid to create detailed cost breakdowns
- Research and obtain pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Evaluate bids from subcontractors and negotiate pricing as needed
- Create and submit comprehensive proposals and bid packages
- Collaborate with the project management team to ensure accurate cost control throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist with project management duties as needed
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other project documents
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software such as HeavyBid
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Familiarity with contract documents and the ability to review and understand contract terms and conditions
- Strong project management skills to effectively coordinate estimating activities with other departments
- Ability to build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Proficiency in using cost control methods to monitor project expenses
- Experience with software tools such as Bluebeam for document management and collaboration
- Knowledge of construction management principles and practices
