Job Description Summary The Lead Advanced Reactor Nuclear Fuel Mechanical Design Engineer will work in a cross-business team responsible for the mechanical design of Natrium reactor core components.
The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities: Provide well written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy.
Prepare drawings and specifications for reactor core components.
Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews.
Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to drive manufacturability and design to cost initiatives.
Design test procedures and perform testing to address component and assembly adequacy.
Present to internal/external customers and nuclear regulators.
Assist and provide support to the team technical leader and functional manager to plan, status and execute projects.
Perform work with high quality in accordance with NRC regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Effectively communicate and collaborate activities with other team members on technical issues Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience Minimum 3 years of experience in drafting practices (including GD&T, and 3D CAD) Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.
Desired Qualifications: Master’s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university Prior nuclear Industry knowledge / experience Prior ASME BPVC Section 3 Division 5 code experience Proven track record of problem-solving ability and ability to perform complex engineering analyses Prior SFR or reactor experience Strong communication skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments in both verbal and written forms Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, mechanics of materials, stress analysis, heat transfer, , statistics and finite element analysis Ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information Strong customer focus and clear understanding of nuclear industries The salary range for this position is $86-110k.
The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
