PURPOSE The Bulk Material Handling Product Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Regional Managers, Branches, Vendors and Conveying Systems Group in all Bulk Handling Conveying matters.
This individual will participate in the sales process, including sales calls, cost estimation and proposal creation, as well as all aspects of training including branch, customers and Conveying Systems Group training.
Project management responsibilities will also be assigned as warranted.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS • The primary requirement of this position is to increase Bulk Material Handling sales by working directly with the Outside Salesmen, under the direction of the Regional Managers.
• Develop an annual written plan to effectively support the Sales and Marketing of IBT Bulk Material Handling Sales.
• Promote and support the entire IBT product and service offerings in the marketplace, including primarily Bulk material handling but also help with unit material handling products.
• All proposals and projects will be approached using the “Team” concept.
Act as an effective and valuable team contributor, while respecting the contributions of all team members.
• Improve relationships with existing vendors and develop relationships with new vendors to improve IBT’s product offering.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for materials, engineering labor, installation services, and travel expenses for system proposal concepts.
• Generate technically accurate, grammatically correct, thoroughly written proposals for system concepts in a timely manner.
• Make sales calls to customers at the request of Marketing Group personnel or IBT Salesmen to gather data, study customer problem areas, or make sales presentations to the customer.
• Assist Marketing Group, Product Specialists, Inside Sales and IBT Outside Salesmen with the application, specification, integration, and troubleshooting of IBT products.
• Generate/gather all materials required to fully document the operation and maintenance of the Bulk Material Handling Systems.
Documentation will include operating procedures, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting procedures, spare parts list, BOM’s, and OEM literature.
• Maintain communication regarding proposal and project status between Marketing Product Specialists, Regional Sales Managers, IBT Salesmen, Store Managers, and necessary IBT Department Managers.
• Serve as a Project Manager on select projects.
Project Management functions will include: maintain project timeline, assign project responsibilities and oversee their completion, maintain project costs within proposal estimates, liaison between customer and IBT project team, point of contact for vendors and contractors, final decision maker on all project issues, and ultimately responsible for the success of the project.
• Perform on-site system commissioning and training.
• Work under the direction of the Group Director on any other assigned projects.
Complete all tasks assigned by the Group Director in an accurate and expeditious manner.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS • BS Degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in Bulk Material Handling design, material handling equipment or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work with little supervision and meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively perform during a sales presentation and respond to branch and customer questions.
• Strong PC skills with the ability to use technology to improve efficiency and effectively communicate information.
• A person with a customer first focus and attitude who can work with individuals of all levels of technical capabilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% or the time to work with branches on quotes, orders, and new large potential accounts • Willingness and ability to otherwise work remotely.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS This is a full-time position with a minimum work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.
m.
to 5:00 p.
m.
with an expectation to work extended hours as dictated by business needs.
This position regularly requires minimal travel.
