What will the Director of Commercial Lines Portfolio Do? We are seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Commercial Lines Portfolio to join our team.
We are seeking a highly organized individual with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills who is able to handle multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines.
The Portfolio Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the organization's multiple in market products and developing strategies to maximize growth while maintaining a profitable loss ratio.

As our Director of Commercial Lines Portfolio, you will manage your team to ensure we are pricing risk with accuracy in all states where Coterie is admitted for all products, currently consisting of BOP, GL, and PL lines.
This includes reviewing conversion metrics, developing price segmentation, and analyzing price adequacy across states, industries, and distribution channels.
This individual will work closely with all functional areas of the organization, including the Data and Analytics, Distribution, Claims and Technology groups to develop and test theories about the drivers of our book’s performance.
Responsibilities will be: Design, develop, manage, and lead strategies, initiatives, and people using product, pricing, and risk management levers to achieve business goals for lines of insurance in defined markets.
Evaluate opportunities and challenges and build strategies to address them.
Conduct competitive landscape analyses to inform rate, risk management guidelines, and product recommendations.
Maintain and evolve the management of the current CAT aggregations/exposures to protect Coterie and Carrier/Reinsurers Prepare presentations and project updates for leadership and other key stakeholders.
Inform key stakeholders and areas of the organization to the performance of the portfolio, impact to process’ and areas of opportunity to improve top and bottom line performance.

Preference is to have an advanced degree.
You have a minimum 10 years’ experience in pricing, portfolio management, underwriting, and actuarial.
Knowledge of the underwriting discipline and compliance requirements for the full underwriting cycle: both new and renewal business underwriting processes.
Experience with data reporting and automated underwriting technologies and techniques.
Responsive to time-sensitive customer inquiries and interacting positively with agents and brokers.
Working knowledge and ability to understand legal requirements/forms for policy holders and state department of insurance.
You’re passionate about creating simplifying insurance.
Extras that are awesome but not required! Businessowners, General Liability, Property, and Professional Lines experience Actuarial or Data and Analytics certifications or degree Ability to write SQL, Python, etc.
Familiarity with 3rd party data vendors and integrations Insuretech experience Ability to review and analyze legal documents What to expect! Our hiring process generally consists of 3 phases.
Phase 1: Qualified candidates will first meet with HR for a phone interview.
This discussion is a high-level conversation to understand more about your background and interests and for us to share more about Coterie and the position.
Phase 2: Selected candidates will then meet our Hiring Manager for the 2nd interview via Teams video.
This interview is designed to be more detail oriented and allows you to learn more about the role Phase 3: Top candidates will receive an invite for our final interview series via Teams video.
This series will include an experiential exercise project (provided in advance), 1:1 interviews with selected team members and a culture focused interview.
The final series is roughly 1.
5-3 hours in total but can be scheduled over a few days for flexibility.

The salary range for this position is estimated between 130,000-155,000 based on national data.
Candidates who meet all the minimum requirements and possess additional relevant experience, as outlined in the job description, may be considered for a salary above the midpoint of the specified salary range.
