What we are looking for
We are seeking a Project Engineer or above interested in SCS’s Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) practice area.
Our SMM practice involves studies and designs relating to related solid waste management transfer and processing facilities and operations.
You should embrace teamwork, be experienced in consulting engineering, and have the desire to grow professionally.
The location of the position is flexible but must be near an existing SCS office and be hybrid.
You will work on a broad range of projects that require office and fieldwork.
How you can make an impact
Coordinate with clients, regulators, contractors, and subcontractors
Assist with business development activities that include meeting with clients and potential clients, preparing proposals, attending conferences, etc.
Apply knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste and SMM projects.
Project examples include includes recyclables and mixed waste processing, transfer stations, anaerobic digester and compost facilities, permitting, and construction.
Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
Make independent decisions on engineering or scientific problems and methods.
Complete office-based tasks, including: Report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, preparing permit applications, engineering plans and specifications, engineering and financial analyses, completing bid letting documents, etc.
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering required.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the fields of Civil Engineering, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering required.
Experience in the solid waste industry, particularly in the SMM practice area preferred, but not required.
Professional Engineering license required.
Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay range for this position is $75k to $125k depending on experience and location.
This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
