Director, State Initiatives
Location: Fully remote, USA
Job Overview:
The Director of State Initiatives will mentor a team of experienced professionals who serve as the Lexia sales team’s liaisons to state departments of education, regional education service agencies, and state organizations with direct authority and/or indirect influence over education policy, functions/programs, and resource allocations.
This role will be responsible for the design and execution of strategic plans intended to raise the visibility of Lexia within target states.
Anticipation and identification of educational challenges and opportunities is critical.
We are looking for someone who has a positive can do attitude, highly motivated to learn and an inventive thinker that can provide practical approaches to support a quickly changing organization.
This is a home office position that can be located anywhere in the US.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage cross-functional teams to achieve state level bookings targets
Collaborate with sales and internal divisions to develop strategic sales plans in states with literacy legislation
Support team members in their efforts to cultivate relationships with key state and region level stakeholders to secure meetings and presentations
Play an integral role in conference strategy
Gather information on relevant policy thinking and report to National Strategy Team and sales team leadership
Identify strategic alliances within target states
Support government relations work with elected officials
Represent Lexia Learning at conference and partner events
Assist in development of messaging and positioning
Monthly briefs with sales and internal teams
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Advanced Degree in Education or Policy preferred
Knowledge and expertise in Education policy and state level procurement practices
Management experience required.
Minimum 5+ years preferred
Sales experience preferred
Experience and proven ability to work and thrive in a cross-functional role, with success in aligning goals and objectives, and balancing competing interests and priorities
Proven track record of interpreting relevant insights from various resources to spot trends
Excellent organization, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Confidence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
Good customer focus, attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills
