Ripple Foods, headquartered in Berkeley, CA, is looking for a highly motivated *Director of Accounting/Controller.
As a member of the Finance and Accounting team, you will report to the CFO.
*Depending on experience, this role could be either a Director of Accounting or Controller .
This is a full time position.
Ideal candidates will be based on the West Coast.
Can be remote or for Bay Area candidates this can be an excellent hybrid work opportunity.
Objectives
The controller will “own” the financial statements – evaluating alternatives and making decisions regarding accounting for company results
Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and policies/guidelines
Leverage technology to enhance processes to maximize efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve the employee experience
Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
Key Responsibilities
Implement (as needed), manage and refine financial management policies and procedures within the corporate strategic performance and profitability goals; establish, maintain, and manage accounting policies, procedures, systems, including cash and credit management, to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Direct, review, and approve the monthly close and consolidation of the Company's financial reports, ensuring compliance and alignment with U.
S.
GAAP, and other related internal and external accounting functions are conducted in an accurate and timely manner.
Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
Assessing current accounting operations and systems, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
In partnership with People Ops, process payroll along with certified payroll requirements and all tax and 401K filings.
Ensure all expenditures, both for capital investment and ordinary expenses, are properly documented with necessary approvals per corporate guidelines and managed appropriately.
Ensure all company property records, and management assets under the control of this position are properly maintained and adequately secured.
Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
Actively oversee cash and treasury management operations, bank compliance and general financial oversight.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Oversee support of audits.
Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
Qualifications
We are looking for a proven leader with previous experience with CPG in a retail setting.
You must be comfortable—even happiest—working in a start-up environment.
You will need solid communication skills, and the ability to communicate your work clearly and succinctly to company management.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years leading an accounting department
Accounting/finance designation such as CPA, CMA, etc preferred
Strong CPG/food/beverage background
Cost/Inventory Accounting highly preferred
NetSuite experience required
Capability to multi-task and thrive in a deadline driven environment with competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other analytical platforms.
Must be able to commit to working West Coast hours

Annual Salary Range: $190,000-$200,000
