Position: Of Counsel / Independent Contractor with anticipated full case load of assignments.
THE FEDERAL APPEALS FIRM™, is a law firm concentrating its practice in handling Social Security Disability cases at the Federal Court level.
We strive for excellence in Federal Court appeals.
We are a national law firm.
The firm is based in New York City / New Jersey and is seeking contract counsel with superb writing skills to assist with brief writing at the federal level.
A qualified candidate will assist the firm in representing clients, and preparing appellate briefs, in Social Security Disability Appeals at the Federal District Court level, and possibly from time to time at the Circuit Court level, throughout the nation.
We are a national law firm and have cases throughout the country.

Compensation:
Fee sharing (commission based payments) on cases assigned to the brief writer.
Pay is based on a percentage of fees collected.
Estimated compensation range is approximately $70,000 to $129,000.
The compensation is an estimate since it is dependent on success and performance.

Qualifications/ Requirements:
-You must be admitted to practice in at least one state in the nation.
-You must also have excellent writing ability.
-Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence is required.
We have performance standards in place which must be met and which include a set win percentage that we expect our counsel to achieve.
This allows us to continue to obtain a high remand (win) percentage and ensures we maintain excellence in the area of federal appeals.
-You must have a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, excellent writing ability, and willingness to work to achieve a high win percentage.
-Experience handling social security cases is a plus, but not required.
First and foremost, excellent writing and analytical skills are a must.
You will receive hands on experience and training in social security disability cases.
-We do not have a set number of years of experience that you should have in order to apply.
You can be newly admitted, or a seasoned attorney.
What we look for are the skills and attributes noted above.
For newly admitted attorneys - law review, journal, or moot court experience is a plus as it will help us gauge your writing ability; however, it is not required if you can demonstrate excellent writing and analytical skills in another way.
Location: Work will be remote or mostly remote.
