Healthcare Senior Vice President (Policy Analyst) | Washington Analysis
Washington Analysis’ Policy Analysts provide independent and objective analysis and forecasting to the global investment community.
Our team delivers actionable and timely research to our clients regarding the investment implications of federal legislative, regulatory, political, and legal developments.
The Senior Vice President will research, analyze, and forecast for the institutional investment community healthcare public policy issues that affect healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home health, as well as managed care organizations.
These issues include, but are not limited to, healthcare legislative policies, Medicare regulatory reimbursement and coverage changes, Medicaid regulatory questions, surprise medical billing and staffing issues, and healthcare antitrust concerns.
The analyst will also respond to client inquiries on these and additional healthcare-related topics that would impact the healthcare provider and insurer space.
The analyst will be responsible for producing written research and analysis, hosting topic-specific conference calls and events, and engaging directly with clients.
This is not an entry-level position.
Candidates are expected to have at least 8 years of relevant experience.
Compensation and title negotiable based on experience.
This role offers hybrid/remote flexibility, but strong preference for candidates in the Washington, DC area.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and analyze healthcare provider and health insurer-related public policy themes and developments emanating from lawmakers, regulators, and the courts that present actionable investment opportunities
Provide timely, forward-looking analysis of risks and opportunities affecting specific companies or subsectors within the healthcare provider and health insurer space
Publish research reports on the various topics that materially affect the analyst’s issue coverage universe
Host occasional events and conference calls with primary-source subject-matter experts on topics affecting healthcare providers and health insurers
Speak and travel to meet with institutional investors one-on-one and in group settings
Conduct and coordinate due diligence research projects on tight deadlines
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree plus at least 8 years of relevant work experience
Experience analyzing, writing, and presenting on public policy developments
Strong ability to communicate complex information effectively in writing and in person
Prior healthcare-focus public policy experience, either in institutional investment research, government, or outside stakeholder role (i.
e.
, law firm, lobbying firm, trade association, advocacy group, think tank, advisory firm)
At least one of the following credentials a plus, though not required: advanced degree in public policy, JD, MBA, or CFA (or equivalent)
Knowledge of and interest in the financial markets
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within our team environment
Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help build and grow WA’s policy research business
