Job Description:
The Community Solution Education System is hiring a Legal Intern to support its Legal Affairs Department.
This is an exciting opportunity for current law students interested in the nonprofit or higher education sectors.
Working directly with members of the Legal Affairs department, the Legal Intern will assist on a broad range of legal and compliance matters, including but not limited to corporate transactions, contracts, litigation & dispute resolution, labor & employment, data privacy, intellectual property, faculty/student affairs and other relevant functional areas.
The Legal Intern will participate in a wide variety of projects and gain valuable exposure to the workings of an in-house legal department supporting the mission of The Community Solution Education System and its partner colleges and universities.
The Legal Intern will also participate in the System-Wide Summer Internship Program, providing the opportunity to interface with interns and employees working in all areas of the organization.
This is a paid, full-time summer internship scheduled for 37.
5 hours per week.
This internship will begin in June 2024 and end August 2024.
The Legal Intern will report to the Senior Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct legal research into a broad range of topics impacting higher education, including legislation, case law, and regulatory developments.
· Draft legal memoranda, case summaries, policy updates, correspondence, and other documents related to areas of responsibility.
· Review contracts and legal documents to locate and record relevant data.
· Assist with the development of internal education programs on legal issues relevant to higher education.
· Support in the analysis of legal matters concerning operational issues.
· Engage in ad hoc projects to support the Legal Affairs department.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.
Qualifications:
• Current enrollment at an accredited law school.
• Prior work or volunteer experience in a business or professional environment.
• Interest in working in nonprofit, education, or social service-related environment.
• Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding legal and general research skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $20.
00 base compensation.
