Job Title: Budgets and Contracts Associate Reports To: Budgets and Contracts Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Overall responsibility The Budgets and Contracts Associate is responsible for the tracking, processing, negotiating and execution of research site budgets and contracts.
This position interprets the protocol from a financial perspective, works with the Budgets and Contracts Manager to liaise with pharmaceutical partner clients and the clinical project teams to finalize overall budget ranges, as well as works with Summit Clinical Research Network sites and pharmaceutical partner legal teams to negotiate and finalize all research site agreements.
Key tasks: Creates new research site budgets by interpreting the protocol and works with the Clinical Project Managers to ensure all required procedures are accurately accounted for.
Negotiates budgets with Summit Network sites in order to support the site activation timelines set forth by the Summit Statement of Work.
Reviews all protocol amendments to determine if a financial impact is present.
If one is, creates updated site budget and works with the Clinical Project Managers to ensure all required procedures are accurately accounted for.
Works with Budgets and Contracts Manager and pharmaceutical partner legal teams to create draft Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) templates geared for each NASH study.
Negotiates CTAs with Network sites participating on Summit studies.
Negotiates CTA Amendments with Network sites participating on Summit studies.
Maintains study-site specific tracking and provides effective communication with the clinical project teams on statuses for all assigned research site budgets and agreements.
Responsible for providing timely communication of issues, and options for resolution, to the Summit internal team that could impact project timelines.
Attends all core team and study status meetings, as needed, for all assigned Summit studies.
Serves as a point of contact, alongside the Budgets and Contracts Manager, for budget and contract issues for all sites participating on Summit studies.
Maintains current and complete status of budget and contract creation and negotiation in Budget and Contract Associate (BCA) Pipeline.
Runs reports from BCA Pipeline to help manage follow-up priorities and to meet established site activation timelines for budget and contract completion.
Responsible for ensuring all draft and final files are accurately stored and executed Network site agreements are distributed to all necessary internal and external recipients.
Identify and participates in ongoing process improvement initiatives when appropriate.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Minimum) or 5 years or more relevant clinical research and or financial/contract experience.
Prior budgetary experience.
Expertise with budget building; Must be highly proficient in Excel.
Minimum of 4 years of related experience with 2 years of clinical budget experience.
Must have demonstrated ability in negotiation skills, project management skills and effective communication and relationship management abilities.
Must have attention to detail along with an understanding of the research environment.
Customer support focused expertise is highly desirable.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, web based enterprise solutions, and project management software.
