POSITION SUMMARY: The Compliance Officer will interface with senior management and all business units on a broad range of compliance issues critical to minimizing compliance risk to the company’s operations.
This role has substantial responsibilities related to implementation of a Global Compliance Program and its alignment with the relevant anti-corruption laws, including but not limited to the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act, as well as support and oversight to all business units in the global Neuromodulation (NM) franchise, with a specific focus on US operations.
Reporting to the LivaNova Chief Ethics and Integrity Officer, the Compliance Officer will oversee and execute the Global Compliance Program within the Neuromodulation business, globally.
The goal would be to successfully drive transformation, continuous improvement, and a culture of compliance by collaborating across the teams and driving a clear focus and relationship with team members.
The Compliance Officer will be mainly responsible for: Support the Chief Ethics & Integrity Officer in the development, implementation and revision, as necessary, of LivaNova’s Global Compliance Program, and Company tools, compliance standards, policies and procedures.
Demonstrate clear understanding of and the ability to communicate, train and advise on, the relevant anti-corruption laws, regulations and including but not limited to, FCPA and SEC guidelines, UK Bribery Act and the UK Ministry of Justice Guidance, Italian Legislative Decree no.
231, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Anti-Bribery Convention, AdvaMed, MecoMed and MedTech Europe.
Responsibility for development, execution, and budget management of a due diligence maintenance plan for International Sales and Marketing Intermediaries (SMIs).
Monitor and coordinate training and education related to the Global Compliance Program’s policies and procedures.
Ensure that all credible reported deviations from the Global Compliance Program policies and procedures or suspected violations of laws and regulations are documented appropriately and consistently.
Ensure the Chief Ethics & Integrity Officer maintains awareness on pending, newly adopted, or amended anti-corruption legislation at the national and local level, as well as new enforcement trends of existing local and national anti-corruption laws and regulations.
Maintain awareness of trade association activities impacting Company business including but not limited to AdvaMed, MedTech Europe, Mecomed and applicable local trade association activity, particulary those related to NM operations.
Attend all NM senior leadership meetings.
Maintain an open line of communication between Company employees and agents and to encourage and respond to inquiries regarding compliance issues.
Represent E&I perspectives in stakeholder meetings.
Build best-practice based processes and collaborate closely with peers at a global level to ensure alignment.
Establish key performance indicators to capture and evaluate activity and lead improvement implementation.
Ensure local and global standards, regularly mapping risks and driving corrective actions, where necessary.
Implement and enforce policies/procedures, and controls that enhance E&I discipline.
Interface and partner with regional/local leaders, external partners and corporate senior management.
Escalation and risk assessment for HCP engagement, and execution if needed.
Escalation for Conflicts of Internationa, and execution if needed.
Escalation and risk assessment for due diligence of SMIs, and execution if needed.
The Compliance Officer role would champion: Creating business-centric and business partnership for the end-to-end process consultation across business, supporting functions and geographies.
Supporting stakeholder group to support company.
Fostering relationships between key stakeholder groups to mitigate potential compliance risks and drive change adoption and sustainability.

Develop and report timely and accurate analysis of key risk areas for Chief Ethics and Integrity Officer.

Identify the improvement areas and lead this initiative.
Implement and enforce policies/procedures, and controls that enhance the Global Compliance Program for the NM business unit.
Seek out opportunities to coordinate and partner with the Head of Cardiopulmonary Compliance on initiatives that overlap in certain regions.

Other relevant education may be considered if candidate has proven experience in the Lifesciences Industry and meets the Experience requirements.
EXPERIENCE: Successful, 8-10 year track record leading and maturing compliance organizations within a highly regulated industry.
Strong understanding and experience with FCPA, FCA, AKS, SEC Guidelines, and UK Bribery Act.
In-house experience preferred.
Experience in healthcare management, sales and marketing.
PAY: The target base salary for this position ranges from $200,000-$250,000 base + bonus.
