Position Purpose
As a member of our Legal team, the Real Estate Paralegal at Regis Corporation will be responsible for assisting our in-house Legal Department with real estate matters in both Canada and the United States, including drafting and editing various agreements; communicating with landlords and franchisees; partnering with Regis colleagues to ensure timely exercise of Regis’ legal rights, and performing various administrative legal tasks to support the department as required.
This position reports directly to Regis' Corporate Counsel and will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our Legal Department.
Responsibilities
Draft and revise lease and sublease documents, including amendments, options, terminations, and related documents including consents of sublease, estoppels and SNDAs for both Canadian and American salons.
Manage intake, tracking, and review of real estate-related documents.
Maintain a database of executed contracts, including parties, term dates, renewals, and other relevant provisions.
Maintain a database of contract forms.
Communicate with various internal and external stakeholders regarding status of real estate matters.
Ensure timely exercise of Regis’ legal rights and fulfillment of Regis’ legal obligations.
Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports and communicate with internal stakeholders regarding risks and liabilities.
Gather factual information and necessary data to provide recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team on department projects and initiatives, including establishing and maintaining processes and procedures for managing legal matters.
Qualifications
Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 5 years’ paralegal experience or a combination of paralegal and other relevant experience; previous experience in a corporate in-house legal department strongly preferred.
Understanding of legal terms, principles, and processes
Experience reviewing and drafting a heavy volume of real estate-related documents for properties in Canada and the United States
Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
Experience using various software applications (including Word, Excel, and Adobe) and using and maintaining electronic databases such as Smartsheets and Lucernex.
Must have exceptional customer focus and approachability.
Must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to consistently prioritize, coordinate and satisfy numerous competing demands in a high-volume setting.
Successfully achieve deadline driven results that effectively achieve business objectives.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
