We are currently hiring for a talented Director of Professional Development to manage the development and implementation of innovative programs to develop, mentor, engage and retain the Firm’s attorneys and other timekeepers.
This includes a blended learning environment of virtual, in-person and e-Learning.
The successful candidate will have experience in the successful implementation of a competency model for associates; the planning, design and implementation of a robust training curriculum; and possess the ability to develop strong working relationships and credibility with Firm Management, leaders and committees across the firm.
This position can be performed on a hybrid basis from any of the firm’s 38 U.
S.
offices and reports to the Chief Talent Officer (CTO).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Along with the CTO, the Associate Development and Retention Committee (ADRC), and Practice Group Chairs, lead the development and implementation of a competency-based approach to talent management, including a curriculum of training offerings that are aligned with the Firm’s performance expectations and criteria for advancement.
Partner with ADRC to develop, evaluate and improve the Firm's training, mentoring, and retention programs.
Develop and /or implement tools to measure and report on satisfaction and engagement.
Actively participate in ADRC meetings and presentations.
Support the Evaluation Committee on administration of annual performance evaluation process for Associates and Of Counsel including coordinating and participating in review meetings.
Oversee the firm’s administrative support for firm-sponsored continuing legal education (CLE) programs, which may include producing webinars, drafting CLE applications, submitting attendance reports as required by jurisdictions, issuing CLE certificates and maintaining related records.
Collaborate with internal and external presenters to develop relevant programming and materials for the development of attorneys and other timekeepers.
Provide advice and guidance to attorneys at varying levels of seniority regarding career growth and development, and potential next steps in their professional careers.
Develop training curriculum and schedule for summer associates and first year attorneys, enlisting the participation of attorneys and staff throughout the firm.
Direct activities of, and provide coaching and feedback to, professional development staff to achieve department and firm goals and initiatives.
Collaborate with Administration, Recruiting and other departments to successfully onboard new attorneys and other timekeepers.
Recommend changes to enhance process based on feedback.
Conduct check-in calls with new attorneys and exit interviews with departing attorneys and other timekeepers, and communicate relevant feedback to key stakeholders.
Provide support to CTO, RMPs and Management Committee on non-partner lawyer human resources issues as requested.
Develop and maintain annual budget for the department and monitor monthly reporting and variance analysis.
Identify and analyze trends and best practices regarding professional development, retention, engagement, and related areas within and outside of the legal industry and work to adopt and implement relevant practices at the Firm as appropriate.
Administer applicable contracts and manage relevant vendor relations.
Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.

Must possess superior judgment and discretion and be able to protect and maintain sensitive and highly confidential information.
Ability and flexibility to travel to Firm offices and events.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS An undergraduate degree required; Previous experience as an attorney in a large law firm strongly preferred.
Minimum of eight years of experience in a law Firm, including five years in professional development, is preferred.
Previous experience with attorney competency models and evaluation processes.
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in CLE support in a law firm setting.
Previous experience with law firm Learning Management Systems and other relevant learning technologies and tools.
Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust professional development initiatives in a national, multi-office environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel in order to independently produce quality communications and presentations.

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000.
Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
