Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Inspect, identify, and evaluate trees and brush along electric ROWs.
Notify customers and obtain work authorization of vegetation management with private and local land owners.
Submit inspection results and work plans to utility clients.
Conduct safety audits and tree risk assessments.
Interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries.
Conduct QA/QC field auditing of line clearance work.
Estimate vegetation management work to be performed.
Interact with municipalities and tree organizations.
Utilize GIS maps, rangefinders, tremble units, planning software on tablets on a daily basis.
Assist during emergency response times such as storms or fires as needed.
Ensure safe limits of approach and maintain right-of-way access by eliminating problem vegetation growing along high voltage power lines.
Manage all assigned equipment and enforce the equipment maintenance program.
Effective reporting of all problems, incidents, and accidents to the supervisor.
Responsible for pre-notification of public for forestry work on private property including obtaining permission from property owners to do necessary line clearance.
Handle and address customer concerns.
Use climbing equipment to climb and work at varying heights cutting, trimming and pruning trees
Obtain landowner consents.
Complete administrative work as needed or assigned.
Perform other job related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
Must adhere to Wright Tree Service of Canada’s “Employee/ Contractor Smoking, Alcohol and Drug Policy Minimum Requirements” handbook
Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience within the utility tree care industry
Valid CUA
Certified feller or felling endorsement is preferred
Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record, air brakes endorsement a plus
Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree characteristics and growth rates
ISA Arborist Certification preferred
CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid and TDG certifications preferred
Ability to work independently and self-motivate with good time management
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Flexibility with traveling in and out of town, via plane and/or vehicle
Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and retain valid First Aid certification
Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
Proficient in map navigation skills and orienteering
Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)
Assistance may be required during major storm events
