APPRISE is a nonprofit research institute dedicated to collecting and analyzing data and information to assess and improve public programs.
APPRISE has a position available for an Executive Assistant to provide direct support to one of our clients.
*Job Summary:*
This position involves working directly on one of our federal contracts as an assistant to the Director of the Division of Community Assistance.
The Division of Community Assistance administers the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and provides oversight, and technical assistance to states, territories, and tribal grant recipients to support them in providing services and implement strategies to support individuals and families to build economic self-sufficiency.
*Duties/Responsibilities:*
* Manages the daily calendar of the Director, adjusting and prioritizing schedules.
* Will support travel and logistics planning.
* Uses productivity tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint to schedule meetings, communicate assignments, and handle meeting logistics as assigned by the Director.
* Coordinates travel arrangements.
* Prepares and sends agendas and meeting minutes.
* Prepares professional business communication documents including memos, letters, and emails.
* Responds to inquiries from the public – writing letters or emails and making phone calls.
* Builds and maintains good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, along with administrative staff across departments.
*Required Skills/Abilities:*
* Strong knowledge of and ability to employ Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, etc.
)
* Proficient in Zoom for meeting logistics, SharePoint for document management, Microsoft Teams and other collaborative software.
* Previous experience in making documents and web pages compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication.
* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
* Able to travel once monthly to Washington, D.
C.
for meetings (all travel costs covered by APPRISE).
*Education and Experience:*
* Bachelor’s degree required.
* At least two years’ related experience preferred.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).
* An interest in social programs.
