The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer.
Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.
We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families.
Over the past 24 months, the organization has grown to a team of over 300 volunteers working virtually across the United States and Canada.
As we work to become the leading non-profit organization in the field of animal cancer, we plan to more than double in size over the next 12 months.
We're searching for highly organized and detail-oriented Verification Specialist to support this growth.

*About the Position* As a Volunteer Verification Specialist, you'll play a vital role in upholding the integrity and values of our organization.
You will be responsible for conducting thorough online background checks and engaging with personal references to ensure our volunteers align with our mission and ethics.
Your diligence and analytical skills will help maintain the high standard of our volunteer community, ensuring they positively reflect our organization's brand and values.
*Duties and Responsibilities* * Conduct in-depth online background checks to review publicly accessible content related to potential volunteers.
* Contact personal references to verify the character and reliability of prospective volunteers.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records of all findings and decisions.
* Provide timely reports and recommendations regarding volunteer suitability to the HR department and team leaders.
* Ensure all processes comply with relevant privacy laws and organizational policies.
* Collaborate effectively with the HR team and other departments as necessary.
*About You* You are a diligent and ethically-minded individual with a steadfast commitment to moral integrity and impartiality.
You are highly efficient, capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment, and dedicated to conducting each verification with the utmost respect and fairness.
Your ability to manage various tasks simultaneously while maintaining a clear focus on the ethical standards of our organization is crucial.
We value someone who approaches each case with a non-biased perspective and upholds the highest levels of confidentiality and moral conduct.
You have: * Associates degree in human resources or a related field preferred.
* 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or HR support role.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive systems.
* Ability to maintain confidential information.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* You're adept at handling multiple responsibilities concurrently and can prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
* Your work style is characterized by thoroughness and speed, ensuring no detail is missed and every task is completed promptly.
* You possess a strong moral compass and consistently apply ethical principles to your work and decision-making processes.
