*About the Role * The *Corporate Controller *leads the operational accounting team of ACE Sushi by overseeing franchise and corporate accounting duties.
The Corporate Controller manages the accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-departments.

*_ * Oversee the operational accounting team and support the finance reporting team.
* Oversee the sales upload duties and chef statement processing.
Includes handling exceptions for transfers, terminations and new stores.
* Perform bank activities and weekly reconciliations.
* Manage month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses.
* Support in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic re-forecasts.
* Support preparations of state tax filings and ensure compliance with all state requirements.
* Oversee internal, tax, 401k and WC audits.
* Analyze account information and ensure prompt and accurate data reconciliations.
Serve as the main point of contact for external and internal customers.
* Support audits and tax requests.
* Support the accounting department, by preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger.
Support cash and credit card reconciliations, leveraging bank deposit information and franchisee data.
* Prepare complex general ledger account reconciliations and analysis for receivable accounts and other accounts used to track sales and payment activity.
Identify, research, and evaluate activity for inaccuracies, and initiate adjustments as needed.
* Oversee the franchisee payment process and expense reimbursements.
* Oversee sales uploads, chef statements, and expectations handling for transfers, terminations, and new stores.
* Oversee work with external customers (franchisees and vendors) for invoicing, collections, dispute resolution, and account correspondence.
* Monitor and provide reporting on late cash deposits, providing advice to the field on remediation and escalating issues as necessary.
Verify and maintain accurate company and franchise store counts for year-over-year comparisons.
* Oversee sales reporting and tax filings, including responding to and managing tax and compliance notices from various states.
* Manage ad hoc projects (e.
g.
system enhancements and process improvements).

*_ * A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
* CPA is preferred.
* 7+ years of related experience in general ledger accounting, AP, AR, and monthly financial closing in grocery or with a “big box” retailer.
* 3+ years’ experience working in franchise accounting is preferred.
* 5+ years’ experience managing an accounting department.
* Strong knowledge of ERP and accounting software systems.
Prior experience working in NetSuite systems is a plus.
* Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel (sorting/filtering spreadsheets).
* A strong attention to detail and the ability to discover potential risks for our company.
* Manage time and multiple priorities effectively.
* Communicate and collaborate effectively with the team and external customers.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Worked independently with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
