*Bookkeeping Expert and Advisor In Charge Position*
Next Step Enterprises is a rapidly growing Tax, Bookkeeping, Payroll, and Advisory firm based out of Austin Texas.
We have grown beyond our ability to handle all of our clients and are looking for an ambitious bookkeeping expert and advisor in charge professional to help guide our clients through a time of transition and into the future.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* * Work directly with clients to make sure their bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and advisory are being completed timely and effectively.
* Intermediate to Expert-Level QBO (Quickbooks Online) knowledge.
* Beginner to Intermediate-Level experience preparing corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns.
* Tax “paperwork” (aka.
Preparing workpapers) and light Bookkeeping such as basic to intermediate level financial report preparation.
* Ensure all company processes and procedures are being adhered to, and if modifications are necessary, communicate with the proper team members to make the P&P’s more efficient and effective.
* Work directly with clients to request information, provide information, and answer questions.
* Initiate solutions to problems and continue to develop technical expertise to improve professional judgment.
* Manage scope and materiality of engagements at basic and intermediate levels, and obtain proper guidance from more seasoned company experts.
* Follow regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the State Society.
* Reviews financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
* Develop and implement strategic tax planning at a beginner and/or intermediate level.
* Interact closely with clients to provide basic and/or intermediate level tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise.
* Research tax, bookkeeping, and payroll issues and provide guidance/advisory to clients.
* Develop and maintain professional rapport with clients.
* Maintain effective control procedures and processes over all aspects of the tax, payroll, and bookkeeping process.
* Maintain business relationships with existing clients and develop new relationships with potential clients to help grow the firm's clientele base and develop additional opportunities for the firm.
* Utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members.
*Core Competencies* * Strong working knowledge of applicable software programs to produce finished products; Intuit QBO and ProSeries competencies preferred.
* Actively pursues on the job learning and formal learning to develop and refine skills and competencies.

*Qualifications* * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent beginner/intermediate bookkeeping, tax, and payroll knowledge (Expert in bookkeeping and QBO preferred).
* Quickbooks Online certificate required.
* Payroll licensing and/or certificate preferred.
* EA, PTIN, and/or Tax certification preferred.
* Two or more years of applicable experience in QBO bookkeeping preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strict adherence to professional ethics.
* Ability to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm.
* Extended hours required during certain times of the year.
