Purpose:
This position is responsible for leading the TransForce Group’s corporate payroll function, from a day-to-day processing perspective.
The payroll function covers over 400 corporate employees across multiple states in the US.
This role will oversee a team that handles the corporate staff payroll and partners with the driver payroll team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Compliance
Manages payroll activities according to prescribed policies and assists in establishing those policies.
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems (Paylocity) to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, immigration changes, leave changes and changes to pay rates.
Manages regulatory requirements associated with payroll, including timely and accurate distribution of W-2s on an annual basis.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Ensures that payroll taxes are filed and paid in all jurisdictions.
Reviews state unemployment taxes and seeks opportunities to minimize taxes.
Coordinates with HR/Benefits related to payroll deductions, garnishments, direct deposits and other areas of complimentary responsibility.
Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Certifications:
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in payroll
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
Certify Payroll Professional (CPP) required.
Extensive knowledge of multi- state payroll and tax laws
Experience with Paylocity a plus
Competencies:
Strong understanding of Federal & State payroll tax laws
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
Professional communication skills (written, oral) with a proven ability to communicate effectively with peers and various stakeholders.
Capable of building working relationships in a hybrid virtual environment.
